balik kampung bersama anak kecil

7. MENYANYI LAGU KEGEMARAN SEISI KELUARGA

Okay, sebenarnya apabila kita sebut “lagu kegemaran”, kita maksudkan lagu kegemaran budak-budak.

7 BALIK KAMPUNG TIPS WITH CHILDREN

Travelling with a small or big family can be exciting and nerve-wrecking, all at the same time.

There are so many things to think about; where should we stay, how do we manage the kids, what if they have a melt-down, you name it! These are only the few questions that run through your mind.

If you are nervous about travelling with kids, here are some tips for you.

BEFORE THE JOURNEY:

1. GET YOUR CAR SERVICED

This is probably the most important reminder. Yet despite that, we all tend to procrastinate and only send our cars for service at the very. last. minute.

Traffic during peak season can be very stressful to both the family and the car.

If the car is in a good condition, then it minimizes road accidents. So don’t forget to service your car <3

2. KNOW WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO TRAVEL WITH YOUR KIDS

This can be a very tricky thing to understand and figure out. You want to travel in the time of day that is most suitable for your kids to prevent them from bursting into tears and having major melt-downs.

For instance, most kids tend to be really cranky during the evenings. Therefore, if you plan to travel by car and the journey takes several hours, it’s not a good idea to start the journey in late evenings.

But this all depends on you and what is most convenient for you and your family. Whatever it is, safety is always the number one priority.

3. MAKE SURE KIDS ARE FED BEFORE YOU LEAVE

Before starting any trip, you always need to make sure that the kids are well fed before you start your journey. A hungry baby is a cranky baby. And a cranky baby can make a trip stressful.

Always make the time to provide the meal that your kids will definitely eat because you would need to make only necessary stops such as toilet breaks, diaper change and short rests.

You don’t have to be a chef and whip up a storm on the day of your travel because obviously, you don’t want to start the journey already tired. Something simple and easy but a winner meal for your kids will hopefully make your journey a relatively smooth one.

4. SNACK PACKS - KIDS AND PARENTS

When travelling, it’s always important to pack snacks for both you and your children.

Snacks can help calm a cranky baby. Sometimes when they are sleepy but are forced to sit in a carseat, having something to suck and chew on; whether it’s a bottle or a biscuit will help to sleep.

Don’t forget that you will also need to pack snacks for yourselves in case you get bored and tired. Coffee, and easy snacks are really helpful!

5. ENSURE DIAPERS HAVE BEEN CHANGED

Always always always check your kids’ diapers before you leave.

If you have toddlers, try to get them to go to the restroom because you don’t want to do too many stops if you can help it.

6. PACK JUST ENOUGH TOYS

We can’t stress this enough, this may be one of the most essential items for travelling. Pack a few of your kids’ favourite toys and a new toy that they have never played before so that they will be happy and excited about their new toy.

We have also recently launched the Flash Felt My Baby Can Read Omar & Hana which can is a great way for the kids to play in the car.

Toys aren’t just to keep the preoccupied but it also helps them to develop their senses such as their vision, motor skills as well as understanding cause and effect relationships.

Whether it’s their favourite activity books, plush toys you might want to get their favourite ones ready in case you run out of ideas in the car or plane.

WHILE TRAVELLING:

7. SING ALONG TO YOUR FAVOURITE SONGS

If you’re driving, it’s best to get ready your favourite playlist. Compile your favourite CD, mp4 player, flash drive, itunes or spotify playlist. Sometimes you want to have a little fun karaoke session with you and the kids when you’re stuck in traffic. To purchase Omar and Hana's songs in DVD, you can visit the website here.

We've also launched Omar and Hana on Spotify!

Don’t expect the kids to magically sing along to their favourite songs though. Singing to babies help boost their developmental skills such as hearing and speech development.

Research has also shown that singing helps to soothe babies much better than talking.

You might sound like a broken record, especially when you sing the same song over and over and over again. But trust us, babies and toddlers love to hear nursery rhymes especially ones that are sung by their parents!

We hope these tips and tricks will help smoothen your journey back home! Always remember to stay safe!
